On this stretch along the Intracoastal, hoods take constant salt-laden air, and once the flap hinge is pitted or the louvers won't close, cleaning alone won't fix it. If the hood body is solid and only the flap is gone, we can often swap the flap or fit a proper backdraft cover. Condition matters too — a duct that's been packed for years, or one with a nest and comb built into the termination, is more work than annual maintenance.
